Akwa Ibom State, 36 others, present at 2023 National Youth Games opening ceremony

Athletes from Akwa Ibom State and 35 others plus the FCT are set for the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Youth Games, in Asaba.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on a day, Akwa Ibom State and others created on 23rd September 1987 are celebrating their 36th anniversary.
Cladded in Orange tracksuit , white T-shirt and white footwear, the Akwa Ibom contingent of 358 athletes and officials were beautifully dressed amongst the early arrivals for the opening ceremony on September 23, 2023.
Akwa Ibom State finished in 11th place at the 2021 edition of the National Youths Games but have arrived for the 2023 edition with a charge by the state’s Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, to better the 5 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medal return from the last edition.
Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon.,(Elder) Sheriff F.C. Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State and the Minister of Sports Mr. John Enoh, officially flagged off the 7th edition of the National Youths Games, organized for under-15 aged athletes.
At the colourful opening ceremony, there were march past by contingents from all participating states, with games expected to begin immediately after at the Indoor Sports hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Delta State won the 2021 National Youths Games and will look to defend their title on home soil.
