Enyimba have completed the signing of highly-rated teenage midfielder Daniel Daga on a season-long loan from lower league side FC One Rocket.
Daniel Daga impressed for the Flying Eagles first at the WAFU U-20 Cup, before carrying the performance to the global stage at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. The 16-year-old was one of the standout stars for the Nigerian team in the competition.
The People’s Elephant won the 2023 NPFL title, the ninth in their history, to reach the CAF Champions League. They were dumped out of the competition by Libyan side Al-Ahli Benghazi, putting an end to their hopes of reaching the group stage of the competition.
Enyimba will participate in the inaugural edition of the African Football League next month, with Wydad Casablanca set to face the Nigerian champions. Daga will feature in the competition for Enyimba in what will be his first taste of competitive football at the club.
The youngster attracted interest from multiple European sides since the World Cup performances, but his age leaves him unable to make a move to a foreign club until he turns 18. He spent the last season on loan at Dakkada FC in the NPFL but hardly featured due to injury and international commitments.
