D’Tigers star Josh Okogie was pivotal for the Phoenix Suns as they picked up a 108-104 win over the Golden State Warriors on the opening night of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Okogie finished the game with 17 points and five rebounds, including a very important three-pointer near the end of the game. Devin Booker showed up for the Suns, too, with 32 points as Kevin Durant recorded 18 points and ten rebounds.
Steph Curry finished the game with 27 points for the Warriors, and Chris Paul scored 14 points as they fell to a narrow defeat.
In the other game on opening night, reigning champions Denver Nuggets served a reminder of their quality as they received their rings, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 119-107.
Finals MVP Nikola Jokic began the season on fire with a triple-double for the Nuggets, contributing 29 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Jamal Murray scored 21 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 20 points.
LeBron James finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in his first game of Year 21, with Taurean Prince contributing 18 points for the Lakers.
